Visit Sydney, Melbourne, Ayers Rock, Alice Springs and the Great Barrier Reef in an action packed, 13 day touring adventure. This guided tour combines driver led tours and excursions and flights instead of coach travel between regions providing a more independent style of touring. You may have a different driver and group members each day adding to the variety of your holiday.

Your Independent Tour

Day 1: Melbourne

You will be transferred from Melbourne Airport to your hotel. This afternoon is at leisure.

Day 2: Great Ocean Road

On your journey, view the popular coastal townships of Apollo Bay and Lorne, a surfer's haven and retreat. See many fern filled gullies and river inlets. Travel the length of the Great Ocean Road passing towering limestone cliffs, sweeping white beaches and stunning forest scenery. Witness a fabulous spectacle of massive natural erosion. Contrasts abound between rugged coast and verdant rainforest living side by side. See the amazing Twelve Apostles, limestone stacks rising dramatically from the Southern Ocean. Walk along the boardwalk and enjoy the scenery from various viewing platforms.

See Loch Ard Gorge and be swept away by the romantic and tragic story of love and lives lost aboard the Loch Ard. Explore Port Campbell National Park. Discover the tragic history of over 50 ships wrecked along this rugged coastline. Continue beyond Port Campbell to the remnants of London Bridge.

Day 3: Melbourne & Penguins

Discover the charm of Melbourne on a sightseeing tour. This afternoon, travel to Phillip Island, home to an array of wildlife, including Australia’s largest fur seal colony and the endearing Little Penguins. Along the way, visit an animal park for up-close encounters with koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian Devils and more.

View spectacular coastal scenery at The Nobbies, two rocky outcrops abundant in marine life, and browse through the educational Visitor Information Centre. At sunset, watch the Little Penguins as they battle the surf and make their way to their dune burrows to feed their young.

Day 4: Melbourne - Alice Springs

This morning you will be transferred from your Melbourne hotel to the airport for your flight to Alice Springs. This afternoon tour the sights of 'The Alice' including The School of the Air, the historic Telegraph Station, the Royal Flying Doctors Service and the Alice Springs Reptile Centre. The tour concludes with a panoramic view of the township of Alice Springs and the MacDonnell Ranges from the top of Anzac Hill.

Day 5: Alice Springs - Ayers Rock

This morning, travel through the West MacDonnell Ranges. Visit a camel farm and learn about the impact of the ‘ship of the desert’ on the development of Outback Australia. View soaring Atila (Mt. Conner) before arriving at Ayers Rock Resort.

See the amazing collection of Indigenous paintings at the Uluru–Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, then tour the base of Uluru (Ayers Rock) and take the Kuniya Walk to the sacred Mutitjulu Waterhole. In the late afternoon, experience the remarkable colour changes of Uluru, the world’s largest monolith, at sunset, while enjoying sparkling wine.

Option: Add on the Uluru Barbecue dinner for £95.

Day 6: Uluru - Kata Tjuta

Witness a magnificent Uluru sunrise, then continue to Kata Tjuta (the Olgas), a mysterious series of 36 ancient red-rock domes. Walk through Walpa Gorge, where you’ll follow the natural creek bed between two of the tallest of these domes.

Return to Ayers Rock Resort.

Day 7: Ayers Rock - Cairns

This morning there is time available for an optional scenic helicopter flight or perhaps a Harley Davidson ride around Uluru. This afternoon you will be transferred from your hotel to Ayers Rock Airport for your onward flight. On arrival at Cairns Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel.

Day 8: Great Barrier Reef

Board a high-speed catamaran to cruise through sparkling turquoise waters to the outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef. Extending over 35 million hectares, it’s the largest reef structure and marine park in the world and offers an experience like no other. View spectacular coral and tropical fish from the on board underwater observatory and semi-submersible craft, or go snorkelling and experience this natural wonder up-close (equipment provided). Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch before returning to Cairns.

Day 9: Tjapukai, Skyrail, Kuranda

Visit the fascinating Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, Australia’s largest indigenous cultural park, which has been built in a spectacular rainforest setting. Discover this ancient culture through bush food lessons, didgeridoo demonstrations, movie theatres, fire making demonstrations and the famous Tjapukai Dance. A short distance from Tjapukai is the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. Skyrail takes you over and through the breathtaking World Heritage rainforest of the Barron Gorge National Park. There are two rainforest stations where you can enjoy a ranger guided boardwalk and observe this ancient rainforest from spectacular lookouts.

On arrival in Kuranda there is free time to explore the ‘village in the rainforest’ and its many attractions, including the Heritage Markets. After exploring, board the Kuranda Scenic Railway for a historic journey travelling through some of the oldest rainforest in the world. Passing the spectacular Stoney Creek Falls your journey winds through man-made tunnels, across bridges and around curves to arrive at its final destination, Freshwater Station.

Day 10: Cairns - Sydney

This morning you will be transferred to Cairns Airport for your Sydney-bound flight. On arrival in Sydney, you will be transferred to your hotel. The afternoon is free to explore this vibrant city.

Day 11: Sydney Sights

Cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge and stop at Milsons Point for spectacular views of the city skyline. Stop at North Head Lookout for a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy free time at Manly Beach and stroll along The Corso, before heading back to the city. Board your Captain Cook Lunch Cruise for a buffet lunch.

This afternoon you’ll drive through the city and the Domain to Mrs. Macquarie’s Chair. Get your camera ready for close up views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Stop at the headland known as The Gap before arriving at Bondi Beach, where you can wander along the shoreline before re-boarding your coach to return to the city.

Day 12: Blue Mountains

Explore the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains National Park. View the famous Three Sisters rock formation from a perfect vantage point before arriving at Scenic World, where you’ll witness the vastness of the Blue Mountains. You can ride the Scenic Railway, Cableway or Skyway, a great way to see the steep valleys and canyons and follow the boardwalk along the valley floor (own expense). Stop in picturesque Leura where you'll enjoy lunch in a local café. There’s time to explore the village, a delightful blend of quaint shops and groomed gardens.

On your return to Sydney, enjoy an afternoon encounter at a wildlife park. Get up-close to koalas and see kangaroos, wombats, and other native animals.

Day 13: Sydney

This morning you will be transferred to Sydney Airport for your flight.
