Hike a Cliff-ledge Trail and Visit Wentworth Falls

June 13, 2017

If you’re the outdoorsy type looking for your next adventure, Wentworth Falls just might be the escape that you need. Located in the Blue Mountains Park and only a 90 minute drive from Sydney, this small town has some of the best views that any bushwalk can offer. Even if you and the outdoors don’t get on too well, don’t worry; there is still an 18 hole golf course that is calling your name.

Right when you arrive in the town, one of the best chances you’ll get to experience Wentworth Falls is to talk a walk through the village. Grab a cup of coffee or just continue your walk into the Sinclair Crescent to enjoy the must-see Wentworth Falls Lake. The lake has something for everyone including safe swimming, BBQ facilities and even a children’s playground for those attending with a full family.

For many, the crown jewel of the village is the track located in the Blue Mountains National Park, Wentworth Falls track. The walk is short, but it is not short in the stunning views department. On this track, you’ll be able to see the famous waterfall that the town is known for. From your viewpoint, you’ll be able to peer your head over the side of the cliff to see the waterfall 100m to the valley floor. After that, it is just a short walk to the top of the falls where Jamison Creek forms a shallow pool with Jamison Valley in the backdrop.

After you have taken in the beauty of the falls from the cliff, visitors can take the Overcliff-Undercliff track to continue the journey. On your walk you’ll pass through rainforests and swamps as you come up to the Lyrebird lookout, where you can rest and enjoy a snack in the award winning Conservation Hut. It is recommended that visitors take a day to leisurely enjoy the area, but there is no wrong way to enjoy the Wentworth Falls track.

An insider’s tip for you: one of the best times to take a trip to Wentworth Falls has to be during Yulefest (June, July and August). While cool winds blow through the Blue Mountains, visitors are able to enjoy a winter wonderland filled with log fires, singalongs and Christmas fare. However, outside of the three months listed, Wentworth Falls is still a great getaway to book a stay at.

Overall, visiting Wentworth Falls is one of the best ways to experience the beauty of Australia outside the city and is a great way to escape for the weekend.
